Our Beliefs and Core Values

ABOUT our Church

Who We Are

Church at Six Forks is a come-as-you-are United Methodist community that meets you where you are on your walk with God. Together, we are led by the Holy Spirit to serve one another, our neighbors, and our world.

Church at Six Forks began in 2019 when Windborne UMC, founded in 2000, discerned the calling to relaunch their congregation to serve the North Raleigh community in new ways! This is what led us to the vision for Church at Six Forks. We welcome people of all ages, nations, races, sexual orientations, or political affiliations to come worship God together. We believe our strength is in the community God has given us and that you are part of that community!

Our Beliefs

Begun by John Wesley in 1729, today the United Methodist Church is a 12.3-million-strong global church and the second largest Protestant denomination in the United States. As a United Methodist congregation, we affirm the faith shared by all Christians, with particular emphasis on God’s grace and putting Christian faith into action. Grounded in scripture yet willing to ask questions and wrestle with difficult issues, we continue in the tradition of living out our faith by sharing Christ’s love in the world.

CORE VALUES

01. REAL TALK

Jesus brought the truth to the world through his life, death, and resurrection (Jn 14:6). The world is hungry for honest and vital conversations grounded in the truth of God. Therefore, at Church at Six Forks, we seek to proclaim the truth of the gospel in real ways. In our sermons, bible studies, and special events, we seek to connect the truth of God with the hard realities of this world. As Proverbs says, “A timely word is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket.” (Prov. 25:11) We are seeking to share that timely word of God’s love and forgiveness!

02. LEARNING TOGETHER

We believe that we are all journeying together in the life of discipleship. It doesn’t matter what stage you are in spiritually, there is a place for you to grow and share your life with others. Our church is committed to gathering people of all ages for opportunities to learn, grow, and share their experience together. 1 Thess 5:11 says, “encourage one another and build each other up.” We seek to do this through Bible study, music, prayer, and other ministry programs.

03. GIVING BACK

God loves us and has blessed each of us in unique ways! We believe that all that we have and all that we are comes from God’s creating hand. Therefore, we boldly and generously give back.

04. FIND YOUR FAMILY

Jesus taught that in the kingdom of God we are sisters and brothers (Mt. 12:48-50). At Church at Six Forks we seek to live as a family together by growing in community and friendship with Christ and one another. We live as a family of God as we share a common table at regular potluck lunches and in our small group ministry, faith families.

Living a life of faith is intensely personal, but never private. We need the community of faith to lean on for support, accountability, and guidance during difficult times.
